Choice

You get a choice. You can’t control the actions of others or random events.  You can only control your reaction to them.

This realisation has had a profound affect on the way I live my life.

You can choose to believe the best in people.

You can choose to see a set back as an opportunity.

You can choose to interpret the actions of others positively.

You can choose to believe that, underneath it all,  everyone has the same hopes, fears and dreams,  and we’re all just doing our best with what the world has to offer.

You can choose to believe that people are essentially good.

You can choose whether to react with anger,  or with understanding.

You can choose not to delight in the missteps of others.

You can choose not to say ‘I told you so’.

You can choose to focus on how we are all similar,  rather than focusing on how we are all different.

You can choose to treat others the way you’d like to be treated.

You can choose to be generous in spirit.

You can choose not to judge or comment upon the lives and choices of others.

How you see the world? It’s a choice. And making positive choices certainly can make your world a better place.
